Skin Portraits

2008

This project examines how we are judged by the color of our skin, no matter what color we are. Too dark, too light, fitting in or sticking out. Interviewing my family, which represents every shade of Hispanic, I collected the smaller moments of life, where somebody else brought attention to skin color. It is these little moments in life that force each of us to define our identity along the lines of skin color politics.
